smocking, gathers and manipulation for 9 square #5

the traditional english smocking (centre) was rather fiddly, but i'm glad i tried it as it isn't something i would usually attempt - i would be more likely to use the less regular, organic type crumples 

it's certainly been on the outer edge of my comfort zone, which is rather the point of it all for me
